Industry News Update New Hamamatsu 12-bit Digital Colour
Sensor Photo IC Hamamatsu Photonics introduce a new digital RGB colour sensor Photo IC, the S11012- 01CR. This new device features a monolithic CMOS IC with three 12-bit digital registers, allowing simultaneous measurement of RGB values at 615nm, 540nm and 465nm. The new IC is supplied in a compact and high reliability chip-on-board (COB) package.
The photodiode consists of 9 x 9 elements arrayed in a mosaic pattern. Each element has an on-chip filter that is sensitive to one colour of light and light detected by the photodiodes is amplified and converted into 12-bit digital signals. The amplifiers are formed for each of the RGB photodiode elements, allowing simultaneous accurate measurement of the RGB components of the incident light.
To enable measurement over a wide range of illuminance, the photodiode sensitivity can be selected from two setting modes; high sensitivity mode and low sensitivity mode. Depending on the mode chosen, either 9 x 9 elements or the central 3 x 3 elements will be active. This gives the S11012-01CR a very useful wide dynamic range.
The new devices compact size (3.43 x 3.8 x 1.6 mm) and simplicity of integration makes it ideal for LCD backlight and RGB-LED brightness adjustment in flat panel televisions and mobile phones.

3.5 inch embedded SBC supports a range of low-
power single and dual core Celeron processors The LE-37A is the latest embedded single board computer to be added to The BVM Group’s range of small form factor (146 x 101mm) devices. Its small dimensions enable a powerful computer to be incorporated in physically small systems. The LE-37A is based on the HM65 chipset, accepts three 32nm technology Celeron processors and supports up to 8GB of 1066/1333 DRAM. The dual core 17W TDP 1.1GHz 847E, the single core 17W TDP 1.4GHz 827E and the dual core 10W TDP 1.0GHz 807UE can all be specified. All the units provide excellent media, graphics, and I/O flexibility to meet requirements of a broad range of embedded applications, including retail and transaction solutions, digital signage, information kiosks, gaming platforms, medical equipment and Industrial automation.
Two 600MB/s SATA3 interfaces are provided for mass storage interface. VGA, DVI and a 24-bit LVDS dual channel video are supported, and HD audio is provided by a Realtek ALC888 Codec. A GigaLAN port, one RS232 port, a RS232/422/485 port and six USB2.0 ports provide external I/O communications.
Expansion capability consists of either two PCIE mini card sockets or one PCIE mini card socket and an mSATA SSD port. An 8-bit GPIO and an IrDA interface are on-board and SMBUS is supported. The LE37A operates from 9V-24VDC, enabling it to be installed in both cars and commercial goods vehicles to provide mobile computing.

Binder show wide range of circular connectors on Stand 261,
Hall B3 at Electronica Binder UK will be joining forces with its parent company Franz Binder GmbH and showing a wide range of circular connectors on Stand 261 in Hall B3 at Electronica 2012 on 13th to 16th November.
Among the extensive display will be high-power versions of M12 connectors that can carry up to 8A on each contact. Until recently M12 connectors have been limited to 4A with a maximum cable diameter of 8mm and individual wire sizes of 0.75mm”.
This meant that designers had to specify larger circular or more cumbersome connectors such as mixed layout D types. The new high power Binder M12 connectors can carry 8A at 250V on the 4-pole versions while the 5-pole can carry 4 x 8A and 1 x 2A at 125V.
Also on show at Electronica for the first time are new versions of the popular Binder 620 series of sub-miniature, snap-in, IP67 connectors that have both the cable connectors and panel mount sockets available in red, blue and green in addition to the existing black versions thus providing a simple, low-cost coding system.
Manufactured from durable Polyamide, these connectors with external seals are rated to IP67 when mated and the use of advanced snap-in technology offers simple, fast and convenient mating even in areas of restricted access. This makes them ideal for a wide variety of applications including LED lighting systems, sensors, medical equipment, and instrumentation and communications systems.

Hitex (UK) Ltd, in partnership with Emtrion has announced that the QNX RTOS for the DIMM-MX53 processor module is now available.
The DIMM-MX53 module is a self-contained industrial processor module based on the
i.MX53 processor from Freescale. The BSP for QNX 6.5 supports the main features of the module, including Ethernet, USB Host, UART, I2C, SPI, CANbus and displays.
The BSP is available in binary or source code forms, and is bundled with the Developer Kit, which contains a DIMM-MX53 module, baseboard and display. The system arrives assembled and ready for use. The BSP was developed with Swiss QNX experts, Triadem Solutions,
Emtrion supplies several developer and starter kits, for various embedded operating systems, Emtrion single board computers, and embedded core modules.
These are provided either with a kernel and corresponding SDK or as fully-mounted assemblies, depending on requirements and include hotline tickets to get you started, optional training and have extended support contracts available.

Narrow profile hi-rel Datamate from Harwin fits into small spaces New L-Tek SIL suitable for airborne and portable applications
Portsmouth, UK, September 2012… Harwin, the leading hi-rel connector and SMT board hardware manufacturer, has expanded its range of Datamate high reliability connectors with the new L-Tek Single- in-line (SIL) male crimp contact connector. The SIL design provides a narrow profile which enables the connector to fit into small spaces. The low weight of the product makes it ideal for use in airborne and portable applications.
Datamate 2mm pitch connectors provide military- level performance at industrial price levels. Datamate L-Tek SIL male crimp contact connectors feature gold plated contacts capable of carrying 3A per contact. Devices are available in unlatched, latched or friction latch versions – the latched versions provide additional mating security.
