Binder IP67 M16 connectors gain UL approval
The extensive range of Binder IP67, M16 connectors that is available in both nickel plated brass (series 423) and black polyamide (series 723) has now been approved by United Laboratories (UL) and issued certificate number 20120329-E302391. Both series have internal seals at the mating face and are tough, robust and rated to IP67 when mated making them ideal for a wide variety of applications including ANPR systems, gas and water meters, temperature sensors, pressure gauges, torque sensors and similar equipment. Available in two to 24 pole formats, the series
723 is unshielded while the series 423 is available in both shielded and unshielded versions. Solder and screw termination for wires up to 0.75mm2, AWG 20 are available and the contacts in the 423 series are gold and the 723 silver. Cable sizes are 4 to 10mm.

PwrBlade connectors look to support power and data needs of advanced medical equipment
FCI has developed a power distribution connector for medical equipment such as automated medication dispensers. The PwrBlade Series of connectors is able to handle both power and high-speed data signals and as an intelligent solution is able to support advanced medication inventory management, patient monitoring and medical record management. The integration of PwrBlade power distribution connectors into crucial operations of automated medical dispensers is intended to help eliminate the issue of human error in the distribution of medicine to patients.
The PwrBlade Series connector incorporates a modular design that provides for easy upgrades to medical equipment. The Series contact system is designed to handle the high force required for plugging and unplugging into a chassis and features molded guideposts on the header to properly engage with receptacles. The Series also provides alignment during blind mating to eliminate damage to the contacts and connector components.
The PwrBlade Series connector also simplifies medical equipment designs by satisfying both power and data requirements in one connector, reducing the number of connectors required in the design.
“The PwrBlade technology was initially developed to enable the implementation of server system infrastructure (SSI) standards for distributed power supplies (DPS), mid-range
power supplies (MPS), and high-end power supplies (HPS). Incorporating the PwrBlade technology into these new medical applications speaks to the versatility of this product line,” said Tom Scannell, Director, Market & Business Development at FCI. “This integration into advanced automated medication dispensers represents a merger between medical and IT technologies to provide a sophisticated solution that enhances patient safety by accurately - and automatically - updating medical records.” Available in a wide variety of configurations with either solder or press-fit board termination, the power distribution connectors feature up to 20 power contacts with zero to 148 signal contacts, and provide three levels of sequencing of power and signals.

Secure cabling system based on Ha-VIS preLink technology
The Ha-VIS preLink interconnection technology from Harting forms the heart of a secure cabling system that is now being deployed in IT centres as well as industrial machinery and plant automation systems.
The key to the integrity and versatility of the system is the fact that cabling components are always assembled according to the same principle, with the terminal block crimped onto the data cable and a choice of mating faces available for snap-in assembly. Several mating face variants are available including RJ45, M12 D-coded and M12 X-coded versions. The preLink cabling system has been designed to ensure extremely fast and completely safe installation of the cabling to achieve an operationally dependable and high-performance network infrastructure. The design is inherently future-proof for compatibility with Cat.6A/transmission class EA for 10 Gigabit Ethernet.
The Ha-VIS preLink product range is 20 September 2012 Components in Electronics
undergoing constant development and extension, and forthcoming developments include terminal boxes for industrial and outdoor use, a Ha-VIS preLink industrial outlet, and new intelligent patch-panel connectivity solutions.
