Where to Stay

Stunning Somerset

side, sit in the award-winning garden packed with a huge variety of lilies and other beautiful displays.

As a regular business traveller, it’s a refreshing experience when you find that place that offers “something different” to the basic corporate hotel that, after visiting, seeps immediately from your memory.

I was lucky to happen upon a hotel that

offered something much more than that - a little gem in the heart of Somerset. Meryan House Hotel is within five minutes of Taunton centre, which offers great shopping, restaurants and travel links. The Hotel is situated in Bishops Hull village, just far enough to take you away from the bustle.

Another surprise was the extensive dinner menu and daily specials. Unfortunately I have never quite managed the homemade desserts as the portion sizes are more than generous and I can’t give up my favourite starter dish! The biggest difference with this hotel is undoubtedly the staff and owners who really do go the extra mile, on more than one occasion offering meals that were not on their menu and also conjuring up smoked salmon sandwiches when I arrived outside normal hours. The hotel’s cooked to order breakfast is a great way to finish your stay at this great little hotel. I would recommend a stay at the Meryan House Hotel to anyone visiting this area, but mostly to like-minded people that are looking for that home-from-home feeling when travelling on your own.

Go on - give it a try!
