M2M - the game has just started
Telecom TV’s Martyn Warwick interviewed Abhi Ingle of AT&T on the subject of mobile broadband.
Although analysts suggest that the mobile industry has reached saturation point and will stop growing, Abhi Ingle believes that this is just the beginning.
A mobile broadband platform is in place, but the next phase will see services built on top of that platform to connect people and things. In reality, the game has just started.
Progress will require the development of different ecosystems to manage, secure and back-up the services. Growth will come from the intersection of mobile cloud with applications in vertical sectors.
Mobile broadband has the potential to transform sectors’ such as industrial automation, transport, supply chain management and healthcare. Healthcare is an example where companies are developing solutions to remotely monitor conditions such as diabetes and recommend treatment in real time.
To gain the full benefit from mobile broadband, organizations must overcome the challenges and complexity of managing different devices and operating systems.
Successful development of innovative mobile services will require effective cross-platform management and high levels of security.
