Hilton Savannah DeSoto Hotel, Savannah, Ga. Located in Savannah’s historic district, the 1890s vintage, historic property underwent a major reno- vation in 2009 that included a new porte cochére and entry lobby. Super Sky Products created a cus- tom aluminum-framed ridge skylight that is 21 1/3 by 20 1/3 feet. The skylight contains 800 square feet of laminated glass from Viracon to mitigate severe heat and storms. Linetec fi nished the fram- ing in Quaker Bronze using a high-performance 70 percent polyvinylidene fl uoride (PVDF) coating. “Shielding against aging, weathering and pol-
lution, 70 percent PVDF coatings are some of the most durable available,” says Tammy Schroeder, LEED Green Associate, Linetec's senior marketing specialist. “These coatings meet the most demand- ing, exterior, architectural specifi cation AAMA 2605-11. The stringent performance criteria ensure the fi nishes have a long life cycle. This reduces the need for maintenance and replacement, minimizing the associated time, cost and materials.” With the renovations fi nished, the Hilton
Savannah DeSoto can continue to offer visitors accommodations in one of its 245 rooms plus fi ve suites. The hotel also features a bar/lounge, restau- rant, coffee shop, outdoor pool with bar, gift shop, exercise center and 20,000 square feet of banquet and conference facilities.
