I news I FAA Extends Repair Station Comment Period to November


Recently the FAA extended the comment period for FAA issued Notice No. 12–03, entitled ‘‘Repair Stations’’ (77 FR 30054). Comments to that document were to be received on or before August 20, 2012. The update and extension says that in a letter dated August 3, 2012, “…nine associations representing a large cross-section of the aviation industry jointly requested that the FAA extend the comment period for 90 days (Aeronautical Repair Station Association, Aerospace Industries Association, Aircraft Electronics Association, Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, Airlines for America, Helicopter Association International, National Air Carrier Association, National Air Transportation Association, and Regional Airline Association).”


The extension says that the petitioners stated good cause and need for an extended comment period due to the scope and extent of the proposed changes, coupled with the effects it will have between and among individual companies represented by the petitioners. The FAA has agreed more time is needed to consolidate comments and coordinate these comments among the group and has agreed to the petitioners’ request for an extension of the comment period. The FAA says the NPRM’s contents are significant and complex. The FAA says it “understand that it is the intention of the petitioners to continue to canvass their members for comments, and

NetJets Signs 15-Year OnPoint Solution Agreement on Its New CF34 Engine Order


NetJets Inc. has signed a 15-year OnPoint solution agreement With GE Aviation for the maintenance, repair and overhaul of its new CF34 engine fleet, which was part of a June order that included 25 firm CF34- 3B-powered Bombardier Challenger 605* aircraft with options for up to an additional 50 aircraft.

Gulfstream Promotes Kreide, Adds Rivera


Gulfstream recently named Jeff Kreide vice president of Business Solutions. He will report to Pres Henne, senior vice president, Programs, Engineering and Test, Gulfstream. In this new role, Kreide will be responsible for developing and managing integrated business solutions to support all facets of Gulfstream,


including Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) and Enterprise Resource Planning. Kreide has been with Gulfstream for 30 years, serving in a variety of management positions. Prior to this promotion, he was the director of PLM, leading the team responsible for the design and development of Gulfstream’s industry-leading three-dimensional model- based type design environment. Before that, he was the director of Savannah Final Phase and Standards Engineering. Kreide graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology with a degree in mechanical engineering. In addition, Gulfstream has appointed aviation industry veteran Joseph Rivera as director of International Operations. He reports to Barry Russell, vice president, Customer Support. In this new position, which is based in Savannah, Rivera is responsible for oversight of Gulfstream’s three international service
