Airline MROs Redouble Their Efforts and Independents Seek Partners
Survivors of the economic meltdown and never-ending crisis can take pride in their accomplishment but can’t rest on their laurels. In Europe competition is fiercer than ever, thanks to the increasing presence of engine, component and airframe manufacturers in the aftermarket. Whipsawed by currency and fuel price swings, airlines are cutting costs, deferring maintenance and offloading risks, cranking up the pressure on MROs.

Engine original equipment manufacturers (OEMs)
entered the aftermarket in the mid-90s, followed by component manufacturers in the 2000s. And more recently the airframers have made a bigger push.
