Prepare for a new Medicare payer


Novitas will become the new Medicare carrier for Texas on Nov. 19, taking over from TrailBlazer Health Enterprises to administer Medicare claims for Texas and the other six states in Jurisdiction H (JH). Here are some things you can do now to ease into the switch:


• If your practice is enrolled with Trail- Blazer for electronic funds transfer (EFT), you should have received a letter in late July from Novitas re- questing a CMS-588 EFT authoriza- tion agreement. Read this letter care- fully for how to complete and return the agreement so that your Medicare payments will not be interrupted on Nov. 19.


• Bone up on Novitas’ Local Coverage Determination (LCD) policies for JH, which are on the transition website at www.novitas-solutions.com/transi tion/jh/index.html. Be sure to study the TrailBlazer JH LCD Crosswalk at www.novitas-solutions.com/tran sition/jh/lcd-policy/lcd-crosswalk .html#trailblazer, as well.
