Galen Rupp first battled heavy rains in the 10,000m then Bernard Lagat and a 40-year-old Olympic Trials record from Oregon legend Steve Prefontaine in the 5,000m to claim a pair of wins at the Olympic Team Trials – Track & Field. Rupp became the first man to complete the distance double at the Olympic Trials since Curt Stone in 1952 and bettered Prefontaine’s Trials record in the process in winning the 5,000m in 13:22.67.
