am Sykes has been involved with Duke of Edinburgh Award Expeditions since before he could walk. His father Stuart Sykes is one of the most successful DofE volunteers in the country taking Sam on countless expeditions throughout his childhood. By age 12 he was assisting on DofE expeditions, taking charge of much older children and at the age of just 18 he launched a successful attempt, with no assistance from local guides, on the summit of Mont Blanc itself. Sam has since gone on to climb mountains all over the world. Sam now helps schools, businesses and youth organizations to plan and lead expeditions throughout the UK and in the Alps.
