Diecaster MRT Announces New Equipment, Business MRT Castings Ltd., Andover,


U.K., announced it has expanded its machining and diecasting operations in response to growing customer demand. T e company said in a press release


it has invested in robotic diecasting and CNC machining equipment, including 10 machining centers. “We believe in combining the


technological best practice of the biggest foundries with the fl exibility of smaller foundries,” said Managing Director Phil Rawnson. MRT said it is seeing an increase in


work for the medical technology sector in Europe and the U.S., including components for manufacturers of endoscopes, oncology equipment and, most recently, a suite of 18 components


for a new range of ventilators. Other recent aluminum casting


contracts include hand controllers for remote weapon stations, tone arms for audiophile hi-fi turntables, print heads for food labeling machines, safety lights for the offshore oil industry and gearbox cases for stair-lifts. MRT, which has annual revenues of $6.8 million, also provides gravity permanent mold and sand castings. 


DieCast Connections Grows Business With State Loan

Chicopee, Mass., has obtained a $300,000 loan to hire six additional employees and purchase equipment and material in support of a new product. T e nonferrous permanent mold


and diecasting company obtained the loan from MassDevelopment, Massachusetts’ fi nance and development agency. Over the last two years, DieCast has invested in technical advances and engineering software as part of its growth plan. “T is program has provided the


additional fi nancial resources that will allow DieCast to create sustainable growth and jobs, which is a benefi t to the local economy,” said DieCast Connections President Beth Zastawny. DieCast Connections provides


engineering services and support, casting, secondary finishing, machining, component assembly, injection molding and powder coat painting services. The company serves the automotive, electronics, industrial equipment and utilities industries. It will employ 26 after the project is completed. MassDevelopment works with businesses, nonprofi ts, fi nancial institutions and communities to stimulate economic growth. “Loans from the [programs] help


companies grow and fi ll new orders,” said MassDevelopment President and CEO Marty Jones. 
