The Homestead A national treasure embarks on its next chapter
Tucked away on 3,000 acres in Virginia’s Allegheny Mountains, the historic Home- stead has played host to groups and visitors since 1766, including 22 presidents. The 483- room property offers 72,000 square feet of meeting and function space as well as an array of on-site activities and amenities, from three championship golf courses to shooting sports and horseback riding. This summer, the debut of a $25-million
transformation will perpetuate the Home- stead’s reputation as America’s premier mountain resort. Groups can merge work and play with a lively team-building challenge on the new, 18-hole miniature golf course, or
take a relaxing meeting break in the new spa and wellness center’s private outdoor gar- den and pool. Families who tag along with attendees will love Allegheny Springs, a new, two-acre water attraction with three 100-foot water slides and a 400-foot lazy river. The resort’s culinary offerings are set to expand as well, with the new farm-to-table-themed Jefferson’s Grill and a new lobby bar.
