PROJECT FOCUS - PEARL QATAR

THE PEARL-QATAR DOHA’S ‘ARABIAN RIVIERA’

with world-class facilities. Te Pearl-Qatar is a phased mixed-use development comprising 10 distinct, themed districts that include beachfront villas, elegant town homes, luxury apartments, exclusive penthouses, five-star hotels, marinas as well as upscale retail and restaurants. Te development is situated on a multibillion dollar man-made island encompassing 400 hectares of reclaimed land and lies approximately 20 kilometres north of the Doha CBD and directly north of West Bay. While the Pearl’s first residents arrived in late 2009, today its residential units are more popular than ever. According to the latest Asteco report, Q1 2012 has seen a strong demand for one and two-bedroom apartments at the Pearl-Qatar. “Te location continues to be Doha’s prime development for many expatriates,” said Jed Wolfe, Managing Director of Asteco Qatar. Te project is also the country’s first international luxury residential development which

offers international investors freehold title ownership. Te project’s developer, United Development Company (UDC) said the Pearl-Qatar was designed to provide “a unique living and cultural experience that integrates the best of the country’s past and present, offering residents and visitors the ultimate luxury and lifestyle experience.” UDC explained that diversity of housing choices were key objectives in the project’s master planning. Residents can select from a diversity of high quality living environments, ranging from high-end luxurious villa living with private sandy beaches to fashionable apartment-style accommodations with sea views. Due to its versatile lifestyle offerings and its location in the heart of the Arabian Gulf, the

Pearl-Qatar is often referred to as the Arabian Riviera, featuring 40 kilometres of reclaimed coastline and 20 kilometres of pristine beaches. When fully developed, the island will house approximately 18,000 luxury villas, town houses, penthouses and apartments which will, in total, be home to up to approximately 41,000 residents. Te Pearl-Qatar will also host at least three 5-star hotels in addition to three marinas with mooring for around 1,000 boats. Extensive private and public moorage is planned and the island will have canals, lakes and interior navigable coves. Te island will also host a yacht club aimed to cater to the international, regional and local yachting community. Community facilities will include at least two schools, several kindergarten and day care centres as well as a range of public parks and accessible open spaces. Built on a former pearl diving site, the Pearl-Qatar pays homage to the country’s previous

economic driver - pearl fishing - and the name reflects Qatar’s strong cultural ties with the sea, UDC explained. “Although pearling is no longer a key economic driver, it has left a legacy of skills, stories, music, art and poetry that is a source of identity and pride for Qataris today ” l

he first artificial island development in the country, the Pearl-Qatar is an exciting lifestyle destination, proving to be one of Doha’s most popular residential developments
