SIMPSON TO RECEIVE HONOR


Britney Simpson, a member of the Broadmoor Skating Club and Team USA, was       the 2011 Most Promising Athlete award. Winners are picked by a panel of sportswriters and reporters from a variety of media based on their suc- cesses in 2011. Simpson was chosen be- cause at 15, she, with her new partner, Matthew Blackmer, won gold and silver at their Junior Grand Prix events and bronze at the Junior Grand Prix Final. Emily Young is back at the rink following a devastating accident on the highway that involved texting and driving.


U.S. Figure Skating Champion- ships competitors Ashley Cain and Ali Smith join fellow mem- bers of the Stars Figure Skating Club of Texas to help 6 Stones Mission with food baskets for the needy in Texas. The mission was to feed 700 families. It is one way skaters can make a difference.
