The Olympic Regional Development Authority put on a successful NSM skatefest in Albany, N.Y.
the skaters and their families. Parents and sib- lings of the skaters also used the free ice and free skate rental. Everyone came away from this event with big smiles and a lot of enthusiasm for future opportunities. Coaches discussed how adaptive skaters could be integrated into a club’s Basic Skills program.
THE ICE SKATING ACADEMY, ATKINSON, N.H.
On Jan. 16, THE Ice Skating Academy host-
ed a free public skate and fundraiser for “Some- body Cares New England” at Veterans’ Memorial Skating Rink in Haverhill, Mass., in honor of NSM and Martin Luther King, Jr. Te rink was
decorated with inspiring quotes, and there was a moment of silence in honor of the civil rights leader. Tere was a brief presentation by coaches and skaters to show off some local talent with the song “Shed a Little Light” by James Taylor. More than 120 people attended the event,
