NIGHTS OF FASHION

&ITALIAN OPERA Italian fashion has been the height of style since the 11th century when artistic development throughout the country was at its peak. Opera was born in Italy in 1600 and continues to play a starring role in the musical arts. Both are not only still in vogue, but set the benchmark for the art of fine living all over the world. You’ll get an exclusive insider’s look at them, for Tauck guests only, on Roman Holiday. Dressed with glamour and haute couture, our exclusive fashion show features one of Italy’s hottest designers and his latest collection, and leads to a discussion on the Italian fashion industry and its relevance to Italian society and business. Think Gucci, Armani, Valentino, Prada, Ferragamo, Versace and others as you meet a talented designer who is following in their footsteps (be sure to look at their shoes too!).

The evening sings on Day 4 during a private performance of opera classics at the Palazzo della Cancelleria, the earliest Renaissance palace in Rome and today a World Heritage Site. Italian operas historically gave a dramatic musical voice to the concerns of society, and inspired a chorus of tenors and baritones – Enrico Caruso, Luciano Pavarotti and Andrea Bocelli among them – who have added passionate new dimensions to Italian opera. We wouldn’t be surprised if you are moved to sing your own soulful aria after this “command” experience in a beautiful palace.

For Tauck guests only – the stars come out on an exclusive, private evening performance of opera classics in a gilded Renaissance palace, and during a fashion show featuring the latest in Italian haute couture.
