Whether that’s when your team is down and they help to lift you up, or when you are up and they help you drive on and cross that ‘finishing line’. Supporters are the lifeblood of any club. Without them you have no club. It takes a lot of commitment to come to a football match now with the financial

climate we are in. It’s not just your ticket, but the journey there, the pie, the pint, the programme. It’s a big outlay. I know that and I’ll be the first to admit that our fans have had to put up with a lot of disappointing football over the last year or so in following Ipswich Town. That support from the stands has always been there though – on the good days and the bad.


I can remember walking off the pitch after we lost at home to Watford. We should have won but we gave away two bad goals – not for the first time this season. My head was down, the players were down but the positive reaction we got from the stands gave us a lift when we needed it.

There have been too many ‘Watfords’ this season but I know what Portman Road can be like when the team is winning games. We got a taste of it when we beat West Ham recently. The atmosphere that night was fantastic. The supporters and the players were in it together. That’s what I want to try and create at this football club. Thanks for your support.
