in all, itʼs been a decade of significant growth, maturity and evolution for the games market. Itʼs the deep lasting achievements that the MCV Awards are all about. We honour those who push the trade we all love so much forward, who delight gamers, who inform and educate customers, and those who make this a prosperous industry to be in. 63 different firms are in the running

this year, amongst them 20 different game brands and 28 different retailers. Almost every major publisher and retailer involved in games in some way is in here, whether they are selling physical or digital goods, games or add-on products. It all shows that, even when the market gets very, very pressured, the trade can push back. And the winners? We name them on the night of Thursday, April 19th. We run a clear and transparent finalist selection and voting system. We take lobbying from across the industry to choose a shortlist, and then hand the vote over to our jury. We also run special votes for the PR


Team prize, selected by journalists, and the Retail Advisory Board decides the winner of our Special Recognition prize. The judges for all are named once the event has taken place. This is also the 10th Anniversary MCV

Awards. I was there at the very first, back in 2003 – an editorial assistant new to the market, helping hand out the retail prizes, learning the names of the people in the know, swapping some business cards. Even to a newbie back then, this was clearly an industry ready to celebrate each othersʼ successes. I'm happy to say that, even when the market has its unique challenges, that spirit never dies.
