PCMA’s 2010 Achievement Award winners are inspiring examples of perseverance, passion, and dedication to everyone in the meetings industry.

While the economy improved slowly but steadily, this past year was in no way a cakewalk. That’s why the winners of PCMA’s 2010 AchievementAwards—given annually to out- standing PCMA members in recognition of their contributions both to PCMA and to the meetings industry at large—deserve all the accolades they have coming to them, and more. ing Leaders in LasVegas on Jan. 10, are: Annette M. Suriani,CMP, Distinguished Member of the

Year—Director of meetings for the Meetings Management Group, Suriani is a 15-year PCMA member and an active partici- pant and leader in the Capital Chapter. She mentors young plan- ners, produces her chapter’s annual meeting, and more. Lora J. DiPadova-Tannehill,CMP, Distinguished Meeting Professional of theYear—DiPadova-Tannehill is director of scien- tific meetings for the American Society of Neuroradiology, where she has been a leader in implementing industry guidelines. She has worked in the meetings industry for more than two decades. Jeffery S.Pinkley,CMP, Distinguished Convention Services Manager of theYear—As senior event manager for the San

Diego Convention Center Corporation, Pinkley takes the utmost care with his clients, while also finding time to mentor students enrolled in San Diego State University’s Hospitality and Tourism Management Program. B.J. Reed,CMP,APR, Educator of theYear—Reed was instrumental in creating a meetings management concentration at the University of Wisconsin–Plattesville, where she teaches and oversees her department’s internship program, supervising roughly 100 students per year. Nancy DeBrosse, Outstanding Service to a Chapter—

Washington,D.C.–based vice president for Experient,DeBrosse is being honored for her tireless dedication to the PCMACapital Chapter.

Non-individual honorees are the Association Management

Center, recipient of the SpiritAward, and theVancouver Conven- tion Centre, winner of the Environmental LeadershipAward.The Vancouver Convention Centre’s newWest Building recently achieved LEED Platinum certification, making it the world’s first convention center to achieve the highest possible LEED rating.
