Low-cost music library S

oundnet has launched a 20,000-track jukebox content library for £27.50 per month.

Featuring the most-played tracks from Soundnet’s client base of more than

15,000 British jukeboxes, including recent albums as well as classic tracks, the service is available for Sound Leisure’s new SoundWave jukebox and for its low- cost Starburst. The £27.50 price is good for a year following installation. Also new from Soundnet is the VHub AV system, which provides 30,000

songs and 7000 music videos for the VenueHub digital jukebox. It is also priced at £27.50 monthly for the first year, and the firm expects custom from venues such as student bars, sports bars and gay pubs, all seen as especially keen on music video. Said the firm’s spokesperson Toby Hoyte: “Video jukeboxes can take a lot of

money. Customers see video and consider it a premium service; in the right site they will pay a premium price. VHub AV has a comprehensive catalogue and the addition of three decades’ worth of music videos brings the colour and excitement of customers’ favourite artists to any music-orientated venue.” Features include a search-by-date

facility, which Soundnet expects consumers will use to find songs that were in the charts when they were born or married. And a partnership with Last.fm, an

Internet radio service, lets them select tracks and receive recommendations via an app that echoes the Last.fm interface. Said Sound Leisure managing director

Chris Black: “The way people listen to music at home is changing and our

agreement with Last.fm means that VHub can reflect people’s new listening habits. By enabling access to

playlists created at home and offering suggestions on track selections, the customer experience is more personal and interactive.”

Whitney tops the charts

chosen by consumers were I Will Always Love You, IWanna DanceWith Somebody, and One Moment in Time. The firm sent a free 20-track tribute playlist to all its Milestones in Music and VHub jukeboxes to meet the heavy demand. Said Soundnet spokesperson

Toby Hoyte: “From a customer profile perspective, it is interesting that the sudden increase inWhitney Houston plays demonstrates that a good digital jukebox caters not only for the younger crowd but for also the older generation, as most of these plays will have come from older customers.” The firm, which is exclusive

content provider to Sound Leisure, uses its Opweb tool to monitor customer music choices in real time.
