What’s your favourite dish to cook?Probably a traditional English roast dinner (say, a nice rib of beef). I also love making minestrone soup.
Will your children eat anything you put in front of them?Pretty much, though they all have their pet hates. My son won’t eat tomatoes or eggs – or fi zzy drinks! Coming from an Italian/French background, they are regularly exposed to lovely food. They adore my father’s spaghetti bolognese. He makes it by the kilo and we keep a supply in the freezer.

2009, aſt er his mother died of cancer, he set up the Dallaglio Foundation and in April he and Freddie Flintoff will embark on a 3,000km,

wife Alice and their three children – Ella, Josie and Enzo.
Ever have TV supper? No! Well, very rarely. Mealtimes are a really important family time and my father comes over often to cook and eat with us.
What’s your favourite travel destination for food? Riva in Barnes is the best Italian restaurant in London – I go there with my family. I’m often in Italy, France or Portugal, where we have a house. We married in Lake Como and go there once a year – and we visit my wife’s mother in the south of France.
What’s your comfort food? Lasagne or fi sh pie.
Coff ee or tea? Both. I start the day with hot water and lemon, then move on to builder’s tea and coff ee.
Breakfast or brunch? Breakfast (porridge, toast) every time. I don’t have a lot of lunch. I snack on fruit and nuts, and then eat a bit earlier in the evenings.
Sweet or savoury? Defi nitely savoury – I rarely have pudding when I go out (don’t usually have room!). But I do love a bar of milk chocolate from time to time (it has to be milk!).
What can’t you do without in the kitchen? The chef’s knives my wife gave me – they’re ridiculously sharp so I keep them out of everyone’s way.
