World Cup on TV recently, I was in awe of the impressive new velodrome and the electric atmosphere of the crowd. I've been trying hard to ignore anything Olympic-related until now for fear that Olympic boredom will set in, but I have to say I am now actually looking forward to the main event and think London, for all its transport nightmares, will showcase the event in a great light. Now, if only we locals could get tickets – but that’s another story! Information on the Olympics and

how businesses in London and surrounding areas can continue to operate during this time still seems to be in demand with many of our buyer members telling us they still feel unprepared. ITM has recently participated in a seminar with ACFO, the Association of Corporate Fleet Operators, which covered vehicle journeys in and around London including details of the ORN (Olympic Route Network) and a presentation from the FTA (Freight Transport Association) to provide a structured programme covering all aspects of travel and logistics throughout the Games. If you missed it, ITM is planning

address key issues affecting the way business travel is managed today and how this might change over the next ten years. It will also cover the Emissions

Trading Scheme (ETS) – what it is and how it affects a travel programme; what the true cost of a ticket is and how to get transparency of these charges; money flow in the business travel supply chain; and how to ensure content visibility in a world where distribution channels are becoming ever more complex. These topics will also form part

of an ‘Industry Affairs’ session at the ITM Conference, taking place May 21st-23rd in Manchester. A buyer-only Directors Roundtable session will tackle these challenging topics. The Conference will also cover managing risk, where ITM Phoenix, a crisis management tool borne from the volcanic ash crisis, will be put to the test to deliver information updates during the Olympics. With a little Olympic flavour as part of the overall ‘Intelligence’ theme, the Conference will feature Frank Dick, Olympic coach, in Prepare to Perform and none other than

Steve Cram, MBE to close the event. So love them or loathe them, it really is time to get ready for the Olympics! To register for The Intelligent

to share this information as part of another Buyer Forum on March 22nd to be held in London. It is titled ‘The Intelligent Travel Management Forum’ and, in addition to the Olympic travel planning update, the day will also
