Pre-assembled solar power connectors from Multi-Contact save on costs
A range of connectors for joining PV cables has been introduced by Multi- Contact. Fully compatible with the company's popular MC4 range, the new MC4PLUS connectors save costs as they are supplied pre-assembled. The male and female connectors snap together to form a highly reliable connection which uses Multilam technology for low contact resistance and long product life. For maximum security they can only be opened using a special tool.
Fitted to cables with cross-sections of 1.5, 2.5, 4 or 6 mm2 and between 40 and 200 cm in length, the rugged connectors are rated for currents up to 30 A and voltages up to 1000 Vdc. An innovative sealing system ensures environmental protection to IP65 and IP67 when mated, and IP2X unmated.

NYK Component Solutions has announced that it is able to supply Sealtron’s EN2997 Y and YE hermetic connectors and is able to offer a full range of receptacles including: EN2997-005 Class Y and YE, EN2997-006 Class Y & YE and EN2997-007 Class Y & YE in shell sizes 8 thru 28.
The connectors are qualified to the ASD (formerly known as Association Europeene des Constructeurs de Materiel Aerospatial or AECMA) specification and key design features include: metal-to metal grounding between receptacles and mating plugs, passivated stainless steel shell material and Gold plated electrical contacts with solder cup terminations. The product is qualified to operate up to 260º Celsius (cyclical) and will withstand an extended range of fluids in an aerospace environment. NYK offer a very competitive price structure.
Solder eyelet style terminations or thermocouple (Type K) pins are also available as commercial equivalents that “meet the design requirements” of EN2997, however they cannot be marked with the EN part number nor certified to the specification. In addition, NYK is also able to distribute a variety of Connectors, Grounding Modules, along with Engine Connectors conforming to EN2997 & MIL-DTL- 83723 Series III specifications.
NYK can also supply Backshells and the company now stocks over £270K of standard backshells, M85049 straight, right angled for all shell sizes. Typically the humble backshell is an afterthought but NYK have extended their stock profile to match the ever growing demand for stock availability. Focusing on cost and good stock profiling NYK is looking to raise the profile of its cable clamp accessories and reduce the lead-time and cost by up to a third.

Omron Electronic Components B.V. is supplying the world’s smallest sealed snap action switch which features an extra-long stroke, with an over-travel of 1.4mm, implemented without any additional internal mechanism, to ensure reliable and consistent on/off operation. The D2HW ultra sub-miniature micro-switch has outer case dimensions that are just 78% of existing conventional models. The IP67 rated switch features compact dimensions of just 13.3mm (w) x 11.2mm (h) x 5.3mm (d).The basic sub-miniature switch is available with straight or angled terminal types and a choice of different actuator mechanisms including pin plunger, hinge lever and leaf lever. A maximum operating force of 0.75N is supported.
Supporting maximum voltage ratings of
125VAC at 0.1A or 42VDC at 0.5A and maximum operating current of 2A with an insulation resistance of 100Mohms, the D2HW will support up to 30 operations per minute and has an operating temperature range of -40°C to +85°C.
The D2HW is manufactured using
environmentally friendly materials; all models are RoHS compliant and lead-free including moulded wire lead modules.
