heard of him on tv and radio; he’s the Marine who was rid- ing his motorcycle when a woman who was inattentive, lost control of her car and


injuries.


He’s on the mend and appeared before the Hidden Valley Kiwanis Club of Escondido this week as they saluted him for their


re-enlist in the Marine Corps and was transferred to Miramar Marine Air Station for additional train- ing prior to deploying to Afghanistan.


He was 30 days away from his deployment when the acci- dent with the motorcycle happened.

slammed into his motorcycle. He was, essentially, dead when paramedics arrived; they were able to rescuscitate him and transport him to the hospital where he continued in a near death condition with massive internal


Operation Hero program.


Marine Corporal Shawn Bullock had deployed to Iraq where he served as an intelli- gence analyst. While train- ing in martial arts he suffered a severely fractured ankle, so bad that he had to be rotat- ed back stateside. It took two years for the ankle to heal, after which he was allowed to


His beautiful wife, Nicole, has been with him every step of the way and is an enor- mous help during his recov- ery. He hopes to be fully fit and continue his Marine Corps career. He and his wife are a tremendous exam- ple of what it takes to make a great Marine family. He and Nicole received two standing ovations during their presentation. Corporal Bullock is available for other speaking engagements.

Dave Geary, popular presi- dent of the Hidden Valley Kiwanis Club, and owner of Daves Computers and Repair, 112 N. Kalmia, Escondido,


where he will deliver water filtration kits as well as food packets and computers; he and his colleagues will also be delivering a tractor and trail- er to a leper colony. The mission is sponsored by Family Friends Community Connection of Rancho Bernardo. Each team member had to raise $4000 to go on the trip. Someone from Hidden Valley Kiwanis Club anony- mously donated $850 toward

This type of humanitarian trip is not unusual for Geary. He went to Jamaica last sum- mer and will be going back to Jamaica this July.
