by a large expanse of sand backed by dunes. •

2. crantock beach A beautiful expanse of golden beach with

good surf, ideal for all abilities a popular and ideal spot for families. •

Lifeguard: mid May to September • Dogs allowed all year round

3. fistral beach Newquay’s iconic beach, quite simply one

of the most consistent and best surfing beaches in the UK and Europe its wild waters perfect for a variety of water based sports. •

Lifeguard: April to September and Easter Weekend

• Dogs allowed all year round

6. great western beach Another sheltered beach with the high cliffs

making it a shaded option for families during the morning. Popular with novice surfers. •

Lifeguard: mid May to end of September • Dogs allowed all year round

7. tolcarne beach Situated at the northern end of the bay and

flanked by high cliffs, it is regarded as an ideal family beach. • Lifeguard: mid May to end of September • Dogs banned, 1st May until 30th September

4. harbour beach Situated within the harbour walls at low

tide, the smallest of the town beaches is a sheltered, calm beach with no surf, an ideal for parents with young children. •

5. towan beach Situated adjacent to the harbour the most

sheltered Newquay beach and is another perfect family spot. •

Lifeguard: April to September and Easter weekend

8. lusty glaze beach Lusty Glaze Beach is a beautiful, horseshoe

shaped cove, surrounded by high cliffs - a great family beach with fun activities for all ages and abilities, and superb beach-side facilities. •
