Kate Chambers ICE Show Director

O

nce again, on behalf of the Directors at Clarion and the ICE

organising team, I would like to extend an extremely warm and

enthusiastic welcome to all of our exhibitors and visitors to ICE Totally Gaming here at London’s Earls Court.

For so many of the ICE extended family of exhibitors and visitors alike this will be a very special show, the last one to be staged at this famous and iconic building. Earls Court has not only been the home for ICE it was the place where ICE was born, where ICE was nurtured and where it has developed into the world beating, ‘totally gaming’ exhibition that it is today. A gaming exhibition that has no equals based on its unique international make-up and the diversity of its online/offline product offering. Whilst the industry will no doubt be in reflective mood come 4pm on Thursday 26th January, it is also a time to look forward to a brave new chapter in the fascinating life and times of ICE Totally Gaming as we move into ExCeL.

ICE will be moving to ExCeL at a great time. The area is being transformed by the hospitality and transport infrastructure improvements which are now underway in preparation for what will be the biggest Olympics on record. The Olympics has certainly accelerated the improvements to this part of London far beyond what we originally anticipated.

From a transport perspective the £238 Million investment in the Docklands Light Railway (DLR) has helped reduce dramatically travel times from ExCel to central London. Capacity on the DLR has increased by 50 per cent; the venue itself has three dedicated DLR stations. ExCel is just ten minutes from the buzz of Canary Wharf with its many

restaurants and is based in the heart of London’s Royal Docks. The hospitality legacy

generated by the Olympics will add to the array of pubs, bars and restaurants.

The venue itself is a modern building and of course delivers all of the benefits to exhibitors and visitors that you would expect from a purpose built venue. It will certainly give exhibitors and their stand designers the freedom to express themselves and their brands on the show floor and deliver a more pleasant ‘customer experience’ for all attendees with improved modern facilities and improved access.

We have been in constant contact with the team at ExCeL, visiting all of the events staged there and looking at examples of best practice. Make no mistake, we are relishing the opportunity this gives to take ICE Totally Gaming to an exciting new stage in its development.

2013 will also see a change in our dates. Early February was the first available slot for an event of the size that we are projecting for 2013. We know the importance of having an early slot in the calendar and the feedback has been positive with a number of exhibitors welcoming the additional time after the Christmas break to prepare for the most important business event of the year. We will, of course, be constantly reviewing the situation in partnership with the industry.

6 ICE 2012 OFFICIAL CATALOGUE & BUYERS’ GUIDE ”

In closing, it only remains for me to thank my team for all of their efforts to make 2012 a successful exhibition. To thank our supporters not least the ECA, for their guidance and to thank the team at Earls Court who have been hugely supportive throughout our time here.

This venue will be close to the heart of all of the

Ron Goudsmit European Casino Association, Chairman “ Dear Colleagues

Once again, it is my great pleasure to welcome our members and indeed the international gaming community at large to this historic edition of ICE Totally Gaming. As everyone in the industry knows, this is the last edition of ICE to be staged at this venue which has become synonymous with what most people in the business believe is the ‘best show in gaming.’

This year’s exhibition brings together many of the world’s leading gaming innovators and also includes a comprehensive programme of Conferences, including the fourth edition of the International Casino Conference, organised jointly by the ECA and Clarion. I believe it is the ability to bring together great products, great events and great thought leaders that makes ICE Totally Gaming such a stand out event on the calendar and one that the ECA is proud to be part of.

Looking back on our time spent at Earls Court, it’s impossible not to reflect on the great personalities that have walked the show aisles, the momentous decisions that have been struck in this part of London in the last week in January, the debates that have taken place on and off the show floor, the people who have travelled to ICE from all corners of the world and of course the fantastic products that have made ICE such an important business event.

Whilst reflecting on the past we should also look forward with enthusiasm to the future. ExCeL is a great new home for ICE Totally Gaming. The venue is modern and was built in order to stage massive, dynamic events such as ICE. I am certain the facilities will allow Clarion to deliver an even better customer experience for the 20,000 plus attendees who regularly support ICE.

The time spent at ICE is so important to the industry. It allows all facets of the gaming sector - manufacturers, operators, international visitors, journalists, trade associations and regulators - to meet, network, exchange ideas and share visions. To a large extent, what’s discussed at ICE sets the tone for the remainder of the year. It represents a powerful and invaluable resource and one which the industry

values and respects.

It only leaves me to wish everyone who passes through the doors at Earls Court for the last time - the very best over the next 12-months.
