INSIDE TAUCK EVENTS
one-of-a-kind experiences Tauck Events are exclusive, once-in-a-lifetime travel experiences, often with a very special event as their centerpiece. The Tauck Civil War Event, part of our exclusive partnership with documentary filmmaker Ken Burns, features an exclusive keynote address by Ken Burns at the National Archives that is followed by an opportunity to meet Ken at a reception. Run for the Roses: The Kentucky Derby revolves around the thrill of viewing the “first jewel” in thoroughbred racing’s Triple Crown as a Tauck VIP on the First Turn at Churchill Downs in Louisville, enjoying our private Trackside Village unit with open bar and fine dining throughout the day.
Exclusive “Gala” Evening Events
But that’s only the beginning... because another key feature of any Tauck Event is our exclusive “gala” evenings, where all of our event guests come together to attend special evenings in exclusive venues. On The Civil War Event in Washington, DC, they include a special tour, Ken Burns’s keynote address and an open bar reception at

the National Archives; a lecture by distinguished Civil War historian Harold Holzer and a Victorian Dance Ensemble performance at the National Building Museum; and a gala farewell reception and dinner at the National Portrait Gallery & Smithsonian American Art Museum. On Run for the Roses, gala evening events in Lexington’s Bluegrass country include a welcome reception and dinner featuring country humorist Carl Hurley; dinner overlooking the racetrack at Keeneland with a bluegrass band performance; and the Parade of Breeds, a festive dinner, and entertainment at the Kentucky Horse Park.
Small Groups – Themed Sightseeing Tracks Both events feature three days of themed sightseeing tracks, experienced at varying times by small groups of 30 to 35 guests, accompanied by a Tauck Director and local experts and guides. They feature talks by Civil War experts or thoroughbred racing professionals; special music or dance performances; tours of historic or cultural sites with “insider” insights provided by historians or other experts; and memorable visits to places that envelop the heart of each event itself.
