Doctoral students Katherine Hess and Zonghui Su have been honored with 2011-12 Dowd-ICES Fellow- ships. Established in 2001 by CIT alum Philip Dowd and wife Marsha, these fellowships support graduate students working on cutting-edge re- search projects that do not have other sources of funding. Hess is working on research entitled “In-Situ, Through- Plane Measurements to Advance Aqueous Hybrid Batteries for Grid- Scale Energy Storage,” supported by her advisor Assistant Professor Shawn Litster. Su is exploring the topic “Thermal Transport in Solid- State Lighting,” advised by Assistant Professor Jonathan Malen.•
