REVELATIONS is the Resident Evil game 3DS owners have been waiting for.
While last year’s Mercenaries 3D showed off the technical capabilities of Nintendo’s handheld, it was essentially a bolstered action-based mini-game from earlier Resident Eviltitles. Revelations, however, features a brand new storyline, series favourite Jill Valentine as lead character and compatibility with the 3DS Circle Pad Pro accessory (see ‘Twin-Stick Shooting’).Plus, it marks a return to Resident Evil’s classic survival horror gameplay of old, making it a must-buy for franchise purists.
Not only that, but it’s the first big release of the year for Nintendo’s 3DS console following strong sales of the handheld device over the Christmas period. Resident Evilis Capcom’s most successful franchise, selling close to 46m units worldwide to date. Like the publisher’s other 3DS games previously released in the UK, this title will be distributed and marketed by Nintendo.
RAIDING RETAIL
Separate to the main campaign mode, Revelationsfeatures a fresh gameplay experience known as Raid Mode. Players can take part in single-player or co-op missions, earning points as they defeat enemies. They can unlock upgrades to improve their weapons and level up their character to progress. Meanwhile, the central single- player storyline takes gamers on a zombie-filled trip on a cruise ship and across snow-capped mountains, as they search for Resident Evil’s special forces veteran Chris Redfield. Set between Resident Evil 4and Resident Evil 5, Jill Valentine and her BSAA partner Parker Luciani are confronted with plenty of zombies and mutated monsters infected with the new T-Abyss virus. While fighting them, players can switch to a first-person viewpoint to make shooting easier. Available as a standalone game or as a limited edition bundle with the Circle Pad Pro, Resident Evil: Revelationsis a must buy for older owners of the Nintendo 3DS and fans of the series.
