Cruise News QUARK’S DIAMOND

QUARK EXPEDITIONS will introduce the 189-passenger Ocean Diamond in November 2012 for its Antarctic 2012-13 season. The ship, currently the Le Diamant of La Compagnie du Ponant, will undergo an extensive refurbishment before being renamed.

Enhancements will include a contem-

porary design and upgraded equipment to the same safety and operational standards as the rest of the Quark fleet. The addition of the new ship will reduce the transfer time at sea, giving passengers an addi- tional 12 hours to spend enjoying the beauty and majesty of Antarctica. In addition, Ocean Diamond will feature a massage and wellness pro- gramme, a collection of polar books and DVDs, a lecture theater hosting educational presentations throughout each voyage and a new “Expert in Residence” allowing polar researchers, scientists and other experts to conduct field work from the ship and share with expedition participants. The ship will offer seven cabin catego- ries, including balcony suites and twin and triple cabins. Fares range from $3,995 per person, triple, to $29,995 for a balcony suite. In addition, the ship will feature special pricing for dedicated single cabins. More info: call (in the US) 1888 892 0334 or www.quarkexpeditions.com.
