NEW YEAR’S EVE; a time to celebrate, refl ect and take stock of the future… so what better way to ring it in than with a DJ set from one of the heroes of British hip- hop at a Mardi Gras-themed party at one of East London’s new fl agship small venues?


On 31st December, in association with The Big Ten Inch and Disco Shed, The Book Club, one of Shoreditch’s favourite small rooms with a funky design, will be transformed into a carnivalesque time-warp passage to New Orleans – the birthplace of jazz, rhythm & blues, marching bands and black magic – soundtracked by UK hip-hop pioneer – the


man responsible for 2003 LP ‘Music For The Mature B-Boy’, collaborations with Jurassic 5’s Chali 2na and anthems such as ‘Ill Culinary Behaviour feat Abdominal’ – the one and only DJ Format ,aka Matt Ford.


Joined by Jerry Dammers of The Specials, The Congo Faith Healers, DJ Wrongtom, and Scratchy and Samuel Preston, expect hip-hop, funk, jazz, Latin, reggae, northern soul and disco to wriggle its way down your ear canal in what promises to be the biggest small party of the year.
