2011/2012 US SPEEDSKATING MASTERS

ANNOUNCE LONG TRACK TEAM By Ryan Border & Kaari Cox

At the 2011 Spring Board Meet- ing, US Speedskating established the MAT1 category for the top US Mas- ters Long Track skaters.

Masters athletes lack a similar structure to progress through; MAT 1 qualifi cation provides a similar ladder of achievement.

In the Masters Committee, it has been vigorously discussed what should be done for short track, and the many masters who

is proven successful the committee will tackle prospective solutions for MAT I in short track and marathons. Join us in congratulating these 18 US Speedskating masters athletes, and following them as they compete during the international masters rac- ing season. This year’s IMSSC unof- fi cial Masters World Championships will be held in Heerenveen (Sprints, Feb 25-26, 2012) and Erfurt (Al- laround, Mar 09-11, 2012).
