Arresting beats Traders and shareholders beware!

It seems that sharp moves in stock markets are closely correlated with a sharp jump in heart attacks.

And according to

They say a picture tells a 1000 words so the HoF would hate to hazard a guess at the latest ad cam- paign from Precise Mortgages which caricatures the PM team for their pending London Route- master tour of the UK (details on page 56 of this mighty tome). The trip sees Alan “Blakey” Cleary, Gareth

“Jack” Lewis, Roselle “Dorris” Hill, Roger “But- ler” Morris and Claire “Joyce” Rankin embark on a mammoth roadshow sticking the knife into high street banks and promoting the benefits of its near prime offering. The last time Blakey was spotted on a London Routemaster it was touring the Black Country to celebrate his and chief exec Ian “Stan” Loner- gan’s 40th, with erm, a Sambuca pouring Umper Lumper. And Elvis. The HoF can only

wonder what this trip has in store.

Karasavvas mixes it

Prolific Finance broker Lee Karasavvas eventu- ally made it home after an afternoon on the tiles with MI editor Sarah Davidson and reporter Yuan Phoon last month. “It all went a bit hazy for me after about 5pm,

and evidently their drinking abilities are legend- ary,” he told the HoF. “Mine however, leave a lot to be desired as I missed a dinner date with some friends at 9pm in Southgate, as I fell asleep on the train and ended up in deepest Hertfordshire, with no battery on my god forsaken iPhone.” Brokers wanting to take up the Davidson Phoon challenge, you have been warned.

recently published analysis of studies in the US and China it would seem elderly savers and shareholders should be particularly careful when it comes to how often they check their stocks. Two recent academic articles have found a link between equity trends and coronary heart disease, suggesting the stock market volatility acts as a signal of health risks, and may threaten investors who closely monitor their portfolios. In one study a 40% fall in the Nasdaq was associated with an ap- proximate 36% increase in heart attacks. Ouch!

Hit me baby, hit me

Paul Howard, Nationwide’s head of corporate accounts, comes dancing into the Hall of Fame this month for an unexpected but ardent passion for Britney Spears. Yes, the Paul Howard you all love and know confessed to the HoF he was a big fan of her music.

So much so that the sales maestro turned music maestro for the night and invited the girliest and manliest mortgage luminaries and he could find to join him at London’s O2 for Britney’s Femme Fatale tour. Mortgage Intelligence’s Sally Laker, Spicer

Haart’s Alison Beech and Mortgage Introducer editor Sarah Davidson were joined by Legal & General’s housewives’ favourite Ben Thompson and Pink Home Loans supremo David Copland. Howard’s not one to be known for his John

Travolta moves but pulled out all the stops as he bopped away to hits including Toxic, Gimme Gimme Gimme, Hold It Against Me and Sarah Davidson’s all time fave, Hit Me Baby One More Time.

Mr Howard, the HoF salutes you!
