DUBFIRE, aka Ali Shirazinia, the minimal techno lynchpin who rose to fame as one half of Deep Dish has launched a special iOS remix contest in which you could win a release on his SCI+TEC digital label. The competition is being run via the Remiix Dubfi re iOS app ($2.99/£1.79/2.39€ from Apple’s App Store) and will be the fi rst time that a record label has ever released an offi cial remix created solely on an iOS device. The app, for Apple’s iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch, allows fans to remix some of Dubfi re’s club tracks through


a combination of loop manipulation, beat-matching and powerful digital effects. This week also saw the launch of an update, adding ‘RibCage’ and ‘Roadkill’ to the tracks available taking the total to eight, and including a new Record & Share function that allows users to put the fruits of their labour online. To enter the remix contest all iOS users need to do is download the Remiix Dubfi re app, remix and record their performance, and then upload their track via the Record & Share function.
