FOREWORD T
IMAGING AND DIAGNOSTICS, ISSUE 3 2011
oday, diagnostic imaging is
all about speed, efficiency and patient comfort. Teleradiology is one of the key modern-
day solutions to this, particularly when it comes to efficient processing of images. In his review on page 10, Dr. Nawab Shafi Ul Mulk reviews whether it is possible to run a hospital using teleradiology without on-site radiologists and the implications this could have on work-flow. Modern advancements in information technology has allowed the concept of remote- radiology thus reducing hospital costs and connecting sub-specialities through internet advancement, such live web collaboration between the physician and the radiologist. Along the theme of patient comfort,
Siemens Healthcare have recently introduced their solution to paediatric
imaging in the form of a giraffe. Technically a mobile digital x-ray system, the giraffe creates a friendly atmosphere in which to perform x-rays on even the most frightened children. Turn to page 14 to learn more. With the Arab Health Exhibition and
Congress fast approaching, which will play host to the 12th Middle East Imaging and Diagnostics Conference, sit back, relax and enjoy this issue.
