Second quarter 2011 total revenue of $7.6 million, representing primarily product revenue, increased 21% over total revenue of $6.3 million in the second quarter of 2010 and decreased slightly compared to $7.7 million in the first quarter of 2011, which inclu- ded $610,000 of government contract revenue. Pro- duct revenue of $7.6 million in the second quarter of 2011 increased 38% compared to the same period in 2010 and increased 8% sequentially; exceeding the Company‘s previously provided guidance of 5%.

LOBALFOUNDRIES announced a significant milestone on the path to market readiness of
its leading-edge 20nm manufacturing process. By successfully taping out a test chip using flows from leading EDA vendors Cadence Design Systems, Magma Design Automation, Mentor Graphics Cor- poration, and Synopsys Inc., GLOBALFOUNDRIES has demonstrated that it is ready for customers to begin evaluating their 20nm designs.
Moreover, GLOBALFOUNDRIES and Samsung Elec- tronics, Co., Ltd. broadened their collaboration, an- nouncing plans to synchronize global semiconductor fabrication facilities to produce chips based on a new high-performance and low-leakage 28nm High-K Metal Gate (HKMG) technology. The technology has been specifically developed for mobile device applications, offering 60% of active power reduction at the same frequency or 55% of performance boost at the same leakage over 45nm low power (LP) SoC designs.
In 2010, GLOBALFOUNDRIES and Samsung an- nounced a fab synchronization on low-power 28nm HKMG technology in collaboration with IBM and STMicroelectronics.
