Bruker’s ContourGT® 3D Optical Microscopes to

break the optical diffraction limit and deliver lateral resolutions that were previously considered impossi- ble to achieve. Winners of the R&D 100 Awards are selected by an independent judging panel and the editors of R&D Magazine as the 100 most technologi- cally significant products introduced into the market- place over the past year.

Exclusively available on the ContourGT-K1, -X3, and -X8 models, AcuityXR joins a long list of inno- vations available for Bruker’s ContourGT family of non-contact, 3D optical microscopes. These systems combine Bruker-patented high-brightness dual-LED illumination with superior vertical resolution to greatly improve sensitivity and stability.

abot Corp. (NYSE: CBT) will invest $10m to increase production capacity at its inkjet facility

in Haverhill, Mass., USA, by the end of 2012. The expansion, which started earlier this year, will enable Cabot to increase the capacity of its CAB-O-JET(R) color pigment dispersion and polymer product lines by 100%. The expansion will further strengthen Cabot‘s leadership position in aqueous pigment dis- persions, which are used to provide the black, cyan, yellow and magenta colors in many of today‘s inkjet printers.

Over the past few years inkjet printers have started to penetrate the office market, competing against laser printers by providing full color printing at low cost and having significant environmental benefit due to lower energy usage. In addition, the widespread adoption of eReaders and the resulting lower de- mand for traditional books has led publishing houses to find alternatives to large print runs, such as “print on demand.”

“This expansion will support the rapid growth in inkjet that we see in both the office and commercial printing segments,” said Fred von Gottberg, Cabot vice president, New Business Segment. “With an in- creased demand for color printing, personalized con- tent and short runs, we believe that inkjet printing has become the best, most cost-effective solution.”

Furthermore, Cabot Corp. will expand production capacity by 25% at its fumed silica facility in Europe. The expansion is expected to be completed in 2012 and is part of a three-year plan to increase Cabot‘s global fumed metal oxide capacity by 35 to 40%. The project is an extension of Cabot‘s long-term partnership with Dow Corning. Moreover, Cabot Corporation announced results for its third quarter of fiscal 2011. For the third quarter of fiscal 2011,
