AFTER years of supplying keyboard parts to the likes of Whitney, Mary J Blige and countless other stars, it’s not surprising that Steve Burton’s sounds are on a different level to the competition. Best of all, he specializes in MIDI loops so you can not only learn from his musical talent, but personalize everything too.


‘Cool Keys: R&B 3’ follows in the path of its popular predecessors delivering extremely musical loops for modern R&B,supplied in both MIDI for those wishing to use their own samplers or synths and WAV / Apple loop format


for those who need the right sounds without any further hassle. The audio loops were recorded from vintage synths and keyboards, and as a result they sound absolutely stunning.


The title of pack is spot on: the musical vibe can be summed up as ‘smooth’, with delicious 7th and 9th chord progressions segueing to licks, riffs and more energetic backing lines. And as always with MIDI loops, we had most fun editing & chopping them up, changing the pitch to make hooks into basslines, reversing sections, and a host of other things to make these sounds feel like our own.
