Letter from the President & Executive Director
The aging of America is not a fringe issue affecting only those over a certain age. The combination of longer life spans and the aging of history’s largest generation, the boomers, affects all aspects of our commu- nity. Health care, housing, transportation, family care giving, the work force, and more are affected by the age wave. It is vital for all of us to address the needs of this booming and changing popula-
tion. Our Center is on the forefront of developing a positive vision for aging, one that helps those 50 and beyond to remain as independent as possible for as long as possible. By helping thousands of our friends and neighbors remain independent, we are
vital to the betterment of our entire community. As seniors continue to be an asset for their families and others, we all benefit. Indeed, our Center encourages people to do for themselves, for each other, and for our community. We provide a community center where over 8,000 individuals annually remain en-
riched and involved. They maintain physical and mental wellness, explore their creativ- ity and spirituality, stay socially connected through travel and recreation programs, and remain engaged with community through volunteering. Research supports the critical nature of what we do and, as you’ll see throughout
this annual report, the voices of our members make it personal. We are also planning for the future and the booming senior population. Your continued support is essential to our success as we celebrate 51 years of service with no government funding. Thanks to you, the Senior Center will achieve even greater success for generations to come!
Thank you!
