As the ECA launches its Renewables and Microgeneration Interest Group, Paul Reeve and Bill Wright outline what it can offer members and explain how it will operate

he ECA and its members are playing an increasing role in the installation of renewables and microgeneration across the country. In addition to lobbying government on policy and

fi scal measures, the ECA recently ran a widely acclaimed national ‘Renewables Roadshow’ (featuring a fully kitted- out renewables ‘battle truck’); launched an expert ‘Energy Solutions’ hotline for ECA members; and added a new area of practical renewable and energy effi ciency guidance on the ECA website – covering both commercial and domestic opportunities. From 5 September 2011, the ECA will be raising the

bar further with the launch of its new Renewables and Microgeneration Interest Group (RIG). RIG will operate through an electronic forum, and it will be freely accessible to all ECA members. The RIG forum will be headed by Bill Wright, the ECA’s head of Energy Solutions and a leading fi gure in the energy technology industry. Bill and the rest of the ECA team will ensure that the forum provides practical support to ECA members’ growing activity in the design, installation and servicing of ‘low to no’ carbon energy systems. From this autumn, the new RIG forum will: ■ Support active communication between ECA members on design, installation and technology
