DO you like bass? Chances are, if you’re reading this, you at least like bass. Thing is, if you try to emulate the latest wave of urban, dancehall, grime or dubstep, you’ll soon realize you need the right sounds to make those cones work overtime. Luckily, sampling pioneer Hank Shocklee’s imaginatively- titled & cleverly-organized new pack for Loopmasters meets that need nicely.


Covering such brilliantly-named categories as ‘Assault Weapons’, ‘Anti-Tank


Weapons’ and ‘Traumatic Weapons’, you’ll find 1 GB in total of seriously warped broken beats, mangled percussion lines, booming 808 electro breaks, eerie synths, atmospheric FX, and much more besides. The key word here is ‘heavy’ – many of these sounds are amongst the hardest- hitting we’ve heard, plus the programming and sound engineering throughout are both incredibly impressive.


We’d recommend this pack to anyone who likes their music on a tough or grimey tip, but in truth most of the sounds can be easily twisted up and made to work for almost any dance music style that requires (a) interesting sounds, and (b) plenty of bass. Which is, to be fair, any good dance music. Don’t delay though - get on this before you hear these sounds all over the shop.
