If, like us, you find building loops and patterns in a grid-like sequencer somewhat restrictive, and if you’re not a talented keyboard player (and we’re not) it can be hard to keep your elements musical. Enter SoundPrism Pro. Using a ridiculously intuitive (and beautiful) interface, fully realized melodies and harmonies can be created and sequenced via a series of matrix-like structures, colour coded by the chromatic relationship underneath.


In simple terms, that means you can play and program away without worrying about sounding bad. More than that, though, you can create musical parts you wouldn’t have a


hope of creating using your sequencer. And although its fun – really, really fun – it is marketed as a professional tool, and to this end, the real magic happens when using SoundPrism Pro as a MIDI controller over WIFI or USB.


Although we found our WIFI connection a little flakey and had to move over to USB, it really was a doddle to set up, and we found it works flawlessly - after 10 minutes we’d laid down a complex, layered piano part in the Cubase piano roll. Yep: it’s no exaggeration to suggest this could be THE app to revolutionise your music.
