ADAMS AVENUE STREET FAIR TO BE HELD SEPTEMBER 24 & 25, 2011


THE 30th


The Adams Avenue Street Fair, Southern California’s largest FREE music festival, will celebrate its 30th anniversary on Satur- day, September 24, from 10:00 am to 9:00 pm, and Sunday, Septem- ber 25, from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm, on Adams Avenue, located in the Normal Heights community of San Diego. This year’s Adams Avenue Street Fair will include more than 70 musical acts performing on six stages along Adams Avenue and Adams Avenue Park. Street Fair attendees will enjoy a variety of music, including blues, rock, swing, roots-rock, indie, world, Latin jazz, and zydeco. In addition to the wide-range of music, there will be three beer gardens, a beer tasting area, giant carnival rides, and more than 300 food, arts and craft vendors selling their specialties along Adams Avenue.


During the past 29 years, the Adams Avenue Street Fair has gen- erated critical acclaim for its focus on rising local, regional, nation- al and international talent, as well as established artists who have influenced generations of musicians. Past Adams Avenue Street Fair performers – many of whom are Grammy Award winners and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees – include; Big Jay McNeely, No Doubt, Lila Downs, Pops Staples, Andy Summers, Wanda Jack- son, Nortec Collective, Koko Taylor, Dave Alvin, Pinetop Perkins, Johnny Johnson, Rosie Flores, Los Fabulocos with Kid Ramos, The Beat Farmers, Cindy Lee Berryhill, Charles McPherson, Transfer, and Mike Watt. Adams Avenue Business Association (AABA) Mission: To promote and increase commercial activity within the Adams Avenue Business Improvement District.


AABA represents over 600 businesses on Adams Avenue, manages the Adams Avenue Business Improvement District and local Maintenance Assessment Districts. AABA also hosts a number of annual special events which include: the Roots Fest on Adams, Taste of Adams Avenue and the Adams Avenue Street Fair. These events are operated as community events as well as fundraising activities to support the projects and programs of the Adams Avenue Business Association.
