APP REVIEW

APP NAME : FL STUDIO MOBILE DEVELOPER : IMAGE LINE FORMAT : PRICE :

IPHONE/IPAD £13.99

IMAGE Line’s FL Studio DAW for PC has gone from a drum machine to fully-fledged studio in the space of 10 years. Now - much to the delight of diehard fans like ourselves - comes FL Studio Mobile for both iPhone and iPad. Yes, it might be pricey, but that’s because you really can make a proper track within this app. Beats can be programmed in that familiar pattern grid from the supplied range of quality drum kits; melodies and basslines can be drawn in a proper piano roll from the excellent range of synth tones included; then you can, with a little work, turn these parts into a song via a fully-featured arrange window. To top it all off, basic FX like reverb and delay

are also provided, allowing you to get some basic mixing done too.

The one weakness is that you can’t import your own sounds and samples until a future version, but since you can export your masterpiece and open it in the full version of FL Studio, this might not even matter for many. All in all, FL Studio Mobile is a step forward for DAWs on iOS. Oh - and it’s darn beautiful too!

VERDICT 8/10
