Flood fi ghters
For a third consecutive year residents in the Fargo, N.D., and Moorhead, Minn., areas battled signifi cant fl ooding. Bobcat Company and the local dealer, Bobcat of Fargo, provided machines to help transport pallets of sandbags for residents who needed to protect their homes with temporary dikes. Thankfully the temporary efforts kept the river from causing signifi cant damage to the cities. Turn to the next page to see some of the many pictures of the fl ood fi ghting efforts.
Unmanned Bobcat systems helps Japan recover
Bobcat partnered with QinetiQ North America to turn Bobcat loaders into unmanned vehicles, with Robotic Appliqué Kits. The kits include seven cameras, night vision, thermal imagers, microphones, two-way radio systems and radiation sensors, and can be operated from more than a mile away. These vehicles and associated training were provided to aid in Japan’s natural disaster recovery efforts this spring. The technology allowed Japan’s response teams to accomplish critical and complex recovery tasks at a safer distance from hazardous debris and other dangerous conditions.
An unmanned Bobcat loader, like the one shown above, has a special Robotic Appliqué Kit installed for recovery efforts in Japan. The kit was developed for use with Bobcat skid-steer loaders.
