U.S.-based ferrous caster TyssenKrupp Waupaca (TKW), Waupaca, Wis., is on the selling block, according to a press release issued by its parent company. Te executive board of TKW parent Tyssenkrupp AG, Essen, Germany, announced it decided to divest the iron casting division as part of its plan to reduce debt and focus on the automotive sector, particularly in emerging markets.

Ferrous metalcaster Willman Industries, Cedar Grove, Wis., has begun a $3 million construction project to create a new scrap storage area and expand its core room. A ductile and gray iron job shop, Willman’s new three-bay scrap storage area will include a new furnace bay for two additional 9-ton furnaces and a scrap preheater. Te company expects the expansion to result in a 50% melting capacity increase and a 25% increase in its large casting molding area.

Green Sealant Protects Against Leaks at High Temperatures—A recyclable sealant, Rexeal 100 by Ultraseal International/America Inc., Ann Arbor, Mich., has been developed for impregnating cast components operating in temperatures between -58F and 428F (-50C and 220C).


Hitachi Metals Reduces Marginal Blasting Costs by 33%—Ductile iron caster Hitachi Metals Automotive Components USA LLC, Lawrenceville, Pa., switched from W Abrasives’ S550 steel shot to the supplier’s HPG 6 material and realized a 33% reduction in marginal blasting costs.
