Products: Reviews Berghaus Nimbus Pants
They say: “These softshell pants combine the warmth of a mid-layer and the protection of an outer shell for all but the worst conditions. Water-resistant, windproof and breathable, they're great for active use in cold weather.”
LFTO.com says: “The Nimbus pretty much ticks all the boxes when it comes to desirable features for a performance hill and mountain walking trouser. The waist is elasticated and has a belt for good measure. There are enough pockets (two hip and one back), plus they all have zips to keep your valuables nice and safe. The winning feature is the mesh-lined vents positioned below both hip pockets. These are accessed by zips and give adjustability to a very wind-resistant fabric. The fabric also stretches in two directions to allow good movement. The ankle cuff is adjustable by a straightforward and effective drawcord which is preferable. The pockets could be bigger though, and the fabric was a little scratchy against my skin. They are also very expensive.” Verdict: “Buy it if you want a thoroughly well- thought-out trouser that caters well for pretty much every eventuality and can tolerate the slightly rough feel of the fabric and the bank- balance-buckling price tag.”

Gelert Ozzie Women’s
Craghoppers Classic Kiwi Zip-Offs
Shorts They say: “These shorts are perfect for the summer/warmer climates. They feature plenty of pockets: two hip, two side security, two rear zip and two thigh flap pockets for all those nik naks we require on our travels. They also have a stain-resistant and anti-UV treatment.”
LFTO.com says: “These Gelert Ozzie women’s shorts are a pretty good fit and cut, made from a pleasant heavy-duty poly/cotton fabric. Some wearers will also appreciate the longer cut and conservative styling. After washing they dry pretty quickly for a mainly cotton short. Loads of pockets and the heavier fabric makes them ideal for dodgy summer weather.” Verdict: “Tough poly/cotton shorts with more pockets than a snooker table that will fit the bill for all but the warmest conditions. Very fair price too.

They say: “This is a classic all purpose, comfortable yet practical, multi-activity travel trouser that can be zipped off at the knee to be transformed into a useful extra pair of shorts. Made from SolarDry treated fabric, the Classic Kiwi trouser has a 40+ UPF rating to help protect the wearer from harmful UV rays, and is also quick drying and needs minimum to no ironing, ensuring precious exploring time isn't wasted as it can be worn straight from your backpack.”
LFTO.com says: “Quite a traditional fit with a high waist and wide hips, the Kiwi comes with belt loops and a part-elasticated waist for comfort. The poly/cotton fabric is soft, yet tough and hard-wearing, repelled water well and offered lots of wind resistance. They took longer than some to dry, though. There is a huge array of pockets, including a large cargo pocket, but the zip-off legs are heavy and less comfortable for year-round walking.” Verdict: “They also come with a lifetime guarantee; not bad for only £40.”

Sprayway Challenger Trouser
They say: “Sprayway exclusive TecWeavePro lightweight stretch fabric is durable and offers maximum breathability whilst being quick drying and fast wicking. TecWeavePro fabric also has added stain and water- resistant properties. There are side waist tabs for adjustment, a standard zipped fly front, two zipped hand pockets and two rear zipped pockets and a zipped thigh pocket, an internal zipped security pocket for smaller items, half-length leg zips with internal gusset and three widths hem adjustment.”
LFTO.com says: “The TecWeavePro fabric is stretchy and very soft and repelled some of the heaviest rain you’ll ever walk in – well above the call of duty for soft shell pants. So easy to move in as well.” Verdict: “Wonderful soft shell pants that are good for year- round use and superb value at just £60.”
