Vango pumps up camping market Vango claims to have

revolutionised the camping market with the

introduction of AirBeam technology, which

allows tents to be inflated rather than pitched with poles.

Vango said inflating the tents is easy and can be done single- handedly. To pitch one of the new tents all that has to be done is to place a peg in each corner, blow up the inflatable beams and peg down a few guy lines. This can all be done in less than five minutes, it said.

Some 15 years in the making, Vango said the inflatable AirBeam tubes are encased in a robust material to protect them from damage and ensure they do not over-inflate. The beams are also inflated at very low pressures, ensuring the tent doesn’t go droopy when the temperature drops at night.

Vango AirBeam Velocity tents, priced from £235 for a two-berth to £425 for a fourth-berth, take three minutes to pump up and are designed for short breaks.

Vango AirBeam Infinity tents range from four- to eight-person versions, with the largest costing £760, and take five minutes to pump up.

These tents also feature the Vango TBSII system for additional stability in windy conditions, zip out windows to allow airflow through the tent and flexible inners which allow the internal layout to be changed.

Timberland brings café culture to clothes Timberland has launched a new

range of clothing made from recycled coffee grounds. The Scafé collection is made from used coffee beans and P.E.T. yarns from recycled plastic bottles. It said coffee grounds provide odour control that can be combined with fabrics to prevent waste going to landfill.

Timberland said the ability to transform

consumer waste into performance

clothing ‘defines its commitment to pushing green technology forward’.

Data from the International Coffee Organization showed that the production of green beans in 2008 was 7.6m tonnes, and that the destination of used coffee grounds is generally landfill. “Combining outdoor performance with cutting edge recycled inventions proves that innovation and social responsibility can successfully go hand-in-hand,” Timberland said.

Features of the range include: fast drying properties, with moisture moving away from the skin and spreading across the surface as it comes into contact with the Scafé fabric; odour control, as the coffee grounds, which are permanently embedded in the fibre, control and absorb odours; and UV protection, with coffee grounds refracting and diffusing the sun’s rays.

Spiro spurs you on Spiro said its new Crosslite Trail & Track

Jacket, with an SRP of £32.50, is waterproof, breathable and wind-proof and has been designed with comfort and safety in mind. Spiro said the lightweight ventilated quick- drying fabric keeps skin cool and comfortable, while the neon fabric and reflective detailing increases visibility in low light conditions. The jacket also incorporates practical design features such as being self- packable in a back zip pocket with a belt,

making it easy to transport when not in use, Spiro said.

The outer is made from 100 per cent polyester pongee 300T with a PU transparent coating, helping produce a claimed ‘lightweight comfort fit with maximum protection’.

There are also easy open Spiro zip pullers. The Spiro Crosslite Trail & Track Jacket is unisex and is available in sizes S-2XL. www.spiroactivewear.com
