SUNNYSIDEUP SolarDay gains momentum

One of the key factors in determining the long term success of PV and solar technologies will be to educate the public and get to the point where they are requesting solar solutions to their energy needs. Despite slow reactions to this problem in many regions an event that began in San Francisco in 2009 is starting to gain international appeal as organisers call for more countries to join.

he third annual SolarDay will be held on Saturday, June 18 with events in cities and other sponsored events by

companies and the solar industry. Growing from one event for SolarDay 2009 in San Francisco, SolarDay 2010 grew to events hosted by cities and the solar industry in 26 U.S. cities. Multiples cities issued proclamations declaring Official SolarDay’s for their city events.

Sponsors for SolarDay 2010 included SunPower Corporation and other companies reaching green consumers as well as many organizations involved with clean energy and the environment. 52 solar installation companies from New York to California likewise sponsored SolarDay 2010 with events and public information about the many solar rebates and state rebate programs available in their area.

SolarDay 2010 was the largest public education and solar outreach program in U.S. history through

events and media coverage. For the months leading up to SolarDay 2010 and for SolarDay itself, thousands of media covered SolarDay as a growing national phenomenon.

SolarDay stands on its own as an important and rapidly growing day of awareness focused on clean and renewable energy and protection of the planet for a million good reasons.

Our Energy Future

Green and solar companies are encouraged to involve their companies as responsible corporate citizens with SolarDay 2011. Many major companies have “gone solar” or plan to be solarized in the near future.

SolarDay will provide participants with the SolarDay 2011 logo to use on printed materials and will help publicize, in advance, your SolarDay 2011 in the local media.
