After a successful triathlon career, Chrissie Wellington decided to have a crack at Ironman distance events (2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike race, 26.2 mile marathon), and won the first one she entered in 2007; she remains undefeated at the full Ironman distance to this day, and even won the World Championship in only her second event. This outstanding athlete recently broke her own World Record over the distance at Ironman South Africa, with a stunning 8:33:56 victory.

As Chrissie’s former coach Brett Sutton wrote, “You have in Chrissie a person of true international sporting excellence, overshadowed by no-one in any other sport.” Down-to-earth, approachable and sublimely talented, Chrissie talked to Activinstinct about her success and approach to the sport she loves.
